TSC refresher courses 2023.For the next year, every teacher will have to retake a new training course.
If President William Ruto adopts the suggestions from the advisory panel, the training will help the instructors stay current with the changes to the school curriculum.
The taskforce has advised that it is critical to have all instructors retrained on the revisions in the curriculum when the report is submitted to the President at the State House on August 1st, 2023.

The taskforce estimates that this training will last a full year.
It states, in part, “Ministry of Education to develop guidelines on how all teachers who graduated before 2023 undergo a mandatory one-year retooling and upgrading programme for compliance with the curriculum change.”
In order to implement the retooling program, institutions will now be forced to create extensive Faculty Staff programmes in advance of competency-based teacher education.
The task committee also suggested C (simple) as the minimum grade for applicants to pre-service teacher education, which will increase the quantity and caliber of new teachers entering the field.

A C (simple) grade together with a diploma in special needs education, a diploma in technical teacher education, and a diploma in secondary teacher education are further recommendations made by the committee.
University senates shall continue to choose the criteria for admission to programs leading to the Bachelor of Education degree.
Upon completion of pre-service training, Teachers Service Commission will, on the other hand, provide all education graduates with the chance to participate in a required one-year internship program.
