According to the report, the Ministry of Education received reports of cheating and other irregularities during the 2022 KCSE examination.
However, it was clarified by the ministry that these cases were appropriately addressed and did not lead to the cancellation of results.
The report highlights various methods of exam malpractice used by students, including the use of mobile phones, which were confiscated and handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for further investigation.
Additionally, some learners were found to possess unauthorized materials while entering examination rooms, although these materials were not used to penalize the candidates.

The committee also mentioned instances of early exposure, where some center managers or supervisors attempted to share exam questions on social media before the exams.
These centers were identified, and the individuals involved were apprehended.
Impersonation during exams was reported, with three cases of attempted impersonation resulting in arrests and court charges.
Suspected collusion among learners was also investigated, but the evidence did not meet the threshold for cancelling candidates’ examination results as per the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) guidelines.
Furthermore, KNEC, in coordination with the Teachers Service Commission and the National Police Service, replaced approximately 300 contracted professionals who were found to be not adhering to examination rules and guidelines.
