New school Calendar 2023. Prior to the 2023 National Examinations, the Ministry of Education issued the third trimester school calendar.
Schools will start on October 30 according to a statement sent by Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Bellio Kipsang on Friday, September 15.
In order to ensure a smooth examination time for children, the principal secretary recommended parents to make the necessary preparations and cooperate closely with instructors.
On August 28, 2023, all schools began the Third Term of the 2023 academic year, which is planned to last through October 27, 2023, to prepare for the national examinations season.

To allow for adequate preparations prior to the National Examinations, which are scheduled to begin on October 30, 2023,
All school activities involving parents and other stakeholders are prohibited during the Third Term, field officials and institutional administrators are reminded, the statement read in part.
Kipsang added that the government had taken additional steps to guarantee that third term learning was uninterrupted.
In order to ensure that the calendar runs well, he also disclosed that the government will provide schools with all necessary capitation funds.
The Ministry of Education has received Ksh16,249,982,722.28 billion as capitation payments from the National Treasury for distribution to students in public Primary, Junior, and Secondary schools in order to ensure the regular operation of all school activities. It was a fragmented statement.
According to PS Kipsang, Free Primary Education will receive Ksh1.56 billion while Junior Secondary Schools will receive Ksh1.75 billion in capitation payments.
To enable the smooth execution of targeted learning activities, the Ministry wants to reassure all schools that the monies would be sent to respective school accounts by September 20th, 2023.
The Ministry of Education fully allocated Ksh89.4 billion in the 2022–2023 Financial Year as capitation for learning in Primary, Junior, and Secondary Schools.
