It has urged the national Treasury increase allocation of funds to facilitate the recruitment of additional teachers and training of CBC teachers.
According to a reliable source, TSC is experiencing a shortage of 116,000 teachers.

Primary school has a deficit of 48,327 teachers and secondary school, colleges and TVET institutions 67,673.
Deployment of teachers to arid, semi-arid and hard to staff areas has been a problem because of insecurity and poor infrastructures in the areas.
TSC has further added that most of teachers have received trainings on CBC curriculum.
93,679 teachers handling JSS learners from grade 1 to 6 have been retooled bringing a total of 229,292 Trained teachers.
346,760 teachers is the number the commission has in its data bank.
The commission is planning to train another 90,00 JSS teachers.

TSC CEO Nancy macharia said that they will ensure that all teachers in the country have prerequisite knowledge and skills to teach the new curriculum.
Additionally, TSC has adopted the progressive TPAD system that is used to evaluate teachers perfomance and identify gaps in teaching.
