TSC CBC training memo. From October 2 to 13, 2023, the instructors Service Commission (TSC) will begin retooling instructors in the Grade 7 class in Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency Based Assessment (CBA).
The training paradigm will adopt a smart cascade approach, with
- Master Trainers training
- Trainee Trainers and
- providing professional support during face-to-face teacher training.
The following are the dates for the face-to-face training:

Master Trainers (regular and SNE) will be trained at KISE from October 2 to 4,
participants recruited from TSC, KICD, KNEC, KEMI, CEMASTEA, MoE, KISE, and TTCs.

TOTs, both normal and SNE, will be trained from October 6 to 7 at TTCs and County select sites,
participants recruited from CSOs, TTC Teacher Educators, MoE QAS, and TSC SCDs.
From October 9 to 13, teachers will be retooled in subject clusters at TTCs and county-selected locations.
Participants will include teachers of languages, science, mathematics, humanities, and technical courses.
The following activities will be carried out to improve teacher capacity:
The Master Trainers will train the Trainers of Trainers (TOTs) who are:
- Curriculu Support Officers,
- Teachers Educators (Tutors),
- TSC sub county Directors and
- MoE Quality Assurance Officers for 2 days.
The TOTs will train teachers face to face for 5 days.
During teacher training, the Master Trainers will provide expert assistance.

The exercise will be residential for ASAL
- Mandera,
- Lamu,
- Wajir,
- Garissa,
- Tanariver,
- Isiolo,
- Marsabit,
- Samburu,
- Turkana,
- Marsabit
- and West Pokot and SNE but Non-residential for non-ASAL.
The venues will be TTCs and or selected venues in the County.
