TSC recruitment PORTAL (Deployment). The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has initiated the deployment process as it opens the portal for 2023.
This portal is available for primary school teachers who wish to transition to secondary education, and
the entire process has been made accessible online.
In particular, 185 job vacancies have been re-announced, specifically in the
- Mandera,
- Wajir, and
- Garissa regions, as part of the teacher recruitment drive.

Despite numerous announcements, no applications were received, potentially impacting the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and
exacerbating existing disparities within the education system.
The TSC acknowledges that one of the major hurdles in recruiting secondary school teachers is that some are reluctant to commit to specific areas due to compensation concerns.
The Ministry of Education has confirmed that this exercise will continue.
A document on the TSC website outlines that the portal remains open for qualified teachers to apply, and they will be placed on a rotation schedule.

Since the deployment process began, more than 21,365 teachers have been recruited for primary schools through a one-year internship program.
In the initial phase, 9,000 teachers were permanently employed and became eligible for pensions.
With the introduction of the CBC program, there are now approximately 30,365 teachers in public secondary schools across the country,
along with an additional 20,000 recently hired teachers.
This ensures that each junior school has a dedicated teacher, given that there are over 23,000 elementary schools in total.
