TSC intern employment. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has now halted and directed the recruitment of teachers as interns
The National Assembly’s Education Committee has now urged that the Board halt the internship program and instead focus on hiring teachers on long-term, pensionable contracts.
TSC Director Dr. Nancy Macharia revealed during a Commission meeting that the Commission aims to hire an additional 10,000 intern instructors.
Dr. Macharia alleges that the commission’s hiring budget is only Sh2 billion out of a total budget of Sh15.4 billion.
TSC plans to hire 5,000 full-time and retired teachers to fill the initial staffing gap and provide more instructors to junior high schools.

Macharia went on to say that the country’s teaching staff is under strain as a result of the 100% conversion effort, necessitating the appointment of more instructors.
