TSC intern employment(Pnp terms).The Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) has announced its intention to offer permanent and pensionable employment to all intern teachers who served in 2022.
This move is part of the government’s efforts to address the teacher-student ratio gap by recruiting 35,550 teachers in the coming month(January 2024)

According to a memo from the commission’s acting director of staffing, Joseph Mugele,
the interviews for this recruitment started will begin as from January.
Mugele has requested the human resources director not to remove the interns from the payroll,
He emphasized that these 2022 teacher interns should remain on the payroll until their employment on permanent and pensionable terms of service is finalized.
This recruitment of 35,550 teachers is the first phase of a larger plan to absorb a total of 116,000 teachers,
as stated by President William Ruto in October.
TSC CEO Nancy Macharia had previously revealed that the commission was facing a shortage of 114,581 teachers.
Of the 10,000 teachers to be employed permanently, 9,000 will be allocated to secondary schools,
while the rest will be assigned to primary schools.
The remaining 25,550 will serve as interns, with
21,550 slots designated for junior secondary schools and
4,000 for primary schools.
