TSC promotion interview changes . All teacher promotion interviews for primary school teachers in subcounties will be conducted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
These are interviews with teachers from C1 to C4. TSC formerly conducted these interviews at the county level.
However, the Commission agents and Ministry officials, led by TSC and Ministry County Directors, botched the last promotion interviews in March of this year for 14,738 positions.
In August, thousands of people who were anticipating promotion letters received regret letters after TSC CEO Nancy Macharia declared that all promotion spots had been filled.
Questions were raised about the criteria used to fill the vacancies. The Commission was given Sh1 billion to promote teachers.
Many teachers said that corruption was rampant, and that merit was rarely used to award promotions, even at large schools.
This time, however, all promotion interviews will take place in sub-counties led by TSC Sub County Directors.
The Commission is also dealing with the highest number of teachers ever shortlisted for promotion interviews, particularly in grade C1.
The first phase of TSC interviews will involve primary school teachers and will take place from December 4th to December 15th, 2023.
