TSC new retirement limit. Teachers over the age of 50 can retire through the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
In a memo, the commission asked county and subcounty directors to select a retirement sensitization venue.
This week and next, teachers will organize sensitization seminars in their subcounties.
The training takes place as MPs draft legislation to allow teachers and civil servants over the age of 55 to retire.

A public servant leaves from the service when they achieve the statutory retirement age, as defined in Sections 80(1)(a) and (b) of the Public Service Commission Act of 2017.
Disabled people must retire between the ages of 60 and 65.
However, the parliamentary committee is considering decreasing the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 55 in order to allow young people to work in the public sector.
The National Assembly’s Labour Committee plans to propose an amendment to the Public Service Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2023, raising the retirement age to 55.
Kangundo MP Fabian Muli proposed that the committee make more retirement age reduction amendments to the measure to help the youth.
“We need to think further and reduce the age to 55 to make the youth of this country proud,” said Mr. Muli.
If the age reduction amendment is not included by the committee, he will offer it himself.

Why 60 years? It should be 55 years old to accommodate youth. Mr. Munga added, “That proposal may be popular or unpopular, but that is my opinion.”
“I have given the committee leeway to amend the bill, but we must not lose sight of its meaning and intent,” Mr. Gathiru said.

Nyinyi watu mnataka kutuua. How do we service the loans that we had taken for the entire period of up to 60 yrs.
How do we service the loans that we had taken while anticipating that we were to retire at 60yrs?
I really need this even today.Punda amechoka.
Am also proposing the age limit for mps to 50yrs..the age they can think well and create jobs intead of thinking small
This retirement age should be uniform to all civil servant including mps and senators coz we all receive our salaries from the same treasury
They should make it voluntary, and also allow those who are over 55 to finish their term while preparing those who are 50 to retire at 55. It is so unfair to retire somebody who had taken a loan to repay upto the time of 60 then all of a sudden you cut short their employment which means whatever little benefits will be swallowed to repay the loan and one ends up with nothing to take home
It should be done carefully. Some policies should not be seen to be punitive. Also, work out the pension quickly for those already retired. Why should one wait for more than Three months?
