TSC New salaries (promoted) . The Teaching Service Commission (TSC) has recently released updated guidelines concerning teacher promotions and salary increments for the upcoming academic year, 2023/2024.
These updates come in response to a significant Sh 5.4 billion collective bargaining agreement (CBA)
Which has been signed, covering the period from 2023 to 2025.

One key aspect of these updates is the introduction of Career Progression Guidelines (CPG),
aimed at facilitating the grading and promotion of teachers across different levels.
For primary school teachers, their journey begins at grade B5, often referred to as Primary Teacher II.
After a tenure of three years in this grade, teachers are automatically promoted to grade C1 as per the CPG,
Eliminating the need for additional educational qualifications or interviews.
Secondary school teachers holding Diplomas in Education are admitted at grade C1.
These teachers, known as Primary Teacher I, Secondary Teacher III, and Lecturer I, do not receive automatic pay rise.
However, after serving for three years in grade B5 in primary school, they are automatically promoted to grade C1.
Transitioning from grade C1 to C2, both for primary school teachers and the administrative cadre, is not automatic.
Entry into grade C2 is competitive and contingent on available openings.
Applicants must have served for at least three years in grade C1 and meet specific qualifications, including a minimum of a Diploma.

For secondary school teachers with Diplomas, promotion from grade C2 to C3 entails an interview process and is not automatic.
Graduates with degrees commence at grade C2 and progress automatically to grade C3 after three years of service.
These updates reflect the TSC’s commitment to simplifying the promotion and salary increment processes.
This is for teachers while ensuring fairness and transparency.
