TSC new teaching requirements. The government is set to enact the recommendations of the Presidential Working Group on Education Reforms pertaining to entry qualifications for Teacher Training Colleges, as confirmed by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
He made this announcement during the inauguration of the new Mandera Teachers’ Training College (MTTC) and Mandera Technical Training Institute (MTTI) in Mandera County.
However, the Teachers Service Commission has opposed these proposals.

CEO Nancy Macharia argues that the recommended entry grades are not aligned with the existing registration requirements under the TSC framework, which would lead to the discontinuation of the subject cluster approach.
The TSC insists that setting entry requirements is within its constitutional mandate and that the PWPER did not consider their input on critical teaching service matters.
