This was disclosed in a study released by the teacher’s union, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)

TSC claims that primary school instructors with only PTE credentials will be rendered ineffective,

This is because all primary schools will be completely committed to the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) from Grades 1 to 6.
However, the Commission states in its framework that it will hire P1 teachers who have completed Competency Based Teacher Education (CBTE).
These are PTE instructors that have earned the current Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE).
TSC goes on to declare that the lowest entrance level into the teaching profession will be a Diploma.
This means that only instructors having a DPTE will be considered for positions in elementary schools.

Those hired will be assigned to job group C1, which means that TSC will eventually eliminate job group B5,
which is the current entry grade for primary school teachers.
TSC now has 46,000 instructors working on internship terms. TSC intends to hire the teachers on permanent contracts in 2025.
This paradigm shift will have no effect on primary school intern teachers. They will be confirmed after two years of service.
Previously, TSC only gave P1 teachers 10 points for upgrading to Competency Based Curriculum.
Thousands of primary and nursery school teachers enrolled to upgrade their certifications to the CBC Diploma.
A taskforce proposed that both P1 and ECDE instructors receive mandatory training in order to meet the demands of the new curriculum.
The first batches of trainee instructors finished their studies and received a diploma from Knec.
