For primary school teachers, the journey commences at Grade B5, denoted as Primary Teacher II.
As per the CPG, teachers are now automatically promoted to C1 after three years in this grade,

Secondary school teachers with the necessary qualifications are placed in class C1.
These teachers, namely:
- Primary School Teachers I,
- Middle School Teachers III,
- and
- Primary School Teachers, do not receive automatic salary increments.
- However, after three years at the B5 primary school level, they are automatically promoted to C1.
Moving from C1 to C2 for primary school teachers and administrative staff is not automatic; it is a competitive process subject to availability.
Applicants must have a minimum of three years of service at the C1 level and meet additional qualifications, including holding at least a diploma.
Promotion from C2 to C3 for qualified secondary school teachers necessitates an interview process and is not granted automatically.
Title holders commence from class C2 and, after three years of service, are promoted to class C3.
