TSC Promotions 2023 update. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has reported that this year, 16,000 teachers have been promoted.
These promotions were determined based on several criteria, including :
- professional development standards,
- regional balance,
- gender equality, and
- affirmative action for arid and semi-arid lands.
Within the secondary school level, the promoted teachers will assume roles such as
- Teacher IV,
- Deputy Directors I and II,
- School Principal, and
- Deputy Director II.
Regionally, Kiambu County has the highest number of promotions, followed by Kisii and Kakamega.
Efforts are being made to address the shortage of school administrators, particularly principals and masters.

Acting capacity teachers will also receive priority in the promotion process.
Dr. Nancy Macharia, the CEO of TSC, presented a comprehensive report to the Senate Engagement Committee covering topics such as :
- medical benefits,
- teacher employment,
- teacher promotions, and
- the transfers of problematic teachers.
According to TSC data, 6,214 teachers will move up one level, and 5,436 teachers will move up two levels from level B5 to level C1.
The commission plans to promote a total of 11,258 teachers within the general promotion framework for the 2022-2023 period.
In the latest steps announced by the committee, more than 36,000 teachers are expected to be promoted through subsequent promotion interviews.

Kakamega County is projected to have the most significant number of advancements, with 288 individuals moving from C1 to C5.
Additionally, 227 teachers will move from C1 to C5, and 36 individuals will move from C1 to C2.
In Garissa District, 21 teachers will be transferred from B5 to C1, C1 to C2, and C2 to C3.
