With a maximum of 1000 shillings for Curriculum Support Officers (CSO) and 800 shillings for teachers, in accordance with prevailing fares.
The teacher training exercise for JSS has commenced, with each school sending their newly employed JSS teachers.
This nationwide initiative aims to prepare secondary school teachers for the full implementation of the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in junior secondary schools,
which began with the current grade six learners entering junior secondary in January 2023.
TSC training payment rates
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has released established travel allowances and meal rates for
- CSOs,
- teachers, and
- headteachers attending the course.
During this training, all teacher participants will receive reimbursements for travel expenses, capped at
- 1000 shillings for CSOs and
- 800 shillings for champions.
The commission has specified that training institutions are responsible for providing:
venues and meals at a rate of 400 shillings per day for three days, along with stationary supplies at 100 shillings.
Each teacher will be reimbursed 300 shillings per day to cover their travel expenses.

Furthermore, CSOs and CBC champions will receive 1000 shillings each as facilitation allowances for each of the five days.
Lunch will also be provided at a cost of 400 shillings per day for all participants and facilitators during the five-day period.
An additional 100 shillings per participant has been allocated for stationary needs.
