The aim is to alleviate the staffing shortages in public primary and post-primary educational institutions.
For the first time, the TSC has published the shortlisted candidates’ details for positions in secondary schools and special needs institutions on its official website.
This move underscores the Commission’s dedication to enhancing transparency throughout the recruitment process.
The applicants’ document verification and interviews have been conducted in the various counties, and
those who have succeeded will be employed according to the guidelines available on the TSC website.
These newly recruited teachers will also play a crucial role in the implementation of the 100 percent transition policy, as emphasized by Dr. Nancy Macharia,
The CEO of TSC. Dr. Macharia has announced that 5,000 teachers will be assigned to
public primary,
secondary, and
training institutions on permanent and pensionable terms.
Of these, 3,972 will be posted to secondary schools, 1,000 to primary schools, and 28 to teacher training colleges.
Notably, the placement of successful candidates will be throughout the country, not limited to their interview location.
Merit lists generated during the recruitment will be used for subsequent processes in the same financial year.

In an effort to further alleviate the shortage and improve educational standards,
TSC plans to replace 8,230 teachers who have left the service due to natural attrition.
Among these, 6,539 will be posted to primary schools, and 1,691 to secondary schools.

This announcement represents a positive step in addressing the shortage of more than 100,000 teachers in primary and post-primary institutions nationwide.
Dr. Macharia stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring an adequate number of teachers to accommodate the growing student population.
The Commission also intends to employ 844 teachers in Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera counties, with 764 in primary and 80 in secondary schools, under permanent and pensionable terms.
Additionally, 386 teachers will be hired on contract in hard-to-staff areas, with 114 for primary schools and 272 for secondary schools.
The TSC has set clear criteria for eligible candidates, requiring them to be Kenyan citizens registered with the Commission.
Applicants for primary school positions should possess a P1 certificate, while,
those applying for roles in secondary and technical colleges should hold at least a diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in Education, respectively.
