TSC teachers celebration Day. According to Nancy Macharia, Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission, teachers deserve to be recognized for the wonderful work they do in schools.
She stated that instructors had done an outstanding job in providing quality education to students.
Macharia spoke in Nairobi on Thursday as part of the World Teacher’s Day events in 2023.
The theme of this year’s event is “The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want: The Global Imperative to Reverse the Teacher Shortage.”
Teachers have done exceedingly well in Kenya. We are celebrating them because of many reasons,” Macharia said.

Macharia believes that teachers should be recognized, especially this year for:
successfully resuming the school calendar that had been disrupted by the Covid-19 outbreak.
According to her, the school calendar was tightened following the outbreak, putting strain on both instructors and students.
“Today, we celebrate our teachers for absorbing all of the pressure over the last two years, allowing us to achieve a normal school calendar in 2033,” Macharia remarked.
We are celebrating them because of the following reasons:
Restoration of the school calendar;
Transitioning of Grade 6 learners to Grade 7;
Participation in CBC in retooling of teachers;
Successful review of 2021-2025 CBA; and
Administration of 2023 national examinations.
She also praised teachers for their contributions to the transfer of Grade 6 students to Grade 7 in Junior Secondary School under the Competence Based Curriculum.
Furthermore, Macharia stated that teachers were willing to multitask while attending classes and engaging in the CBC retooling program.

“This year, in addition to their regular duties, over 72,000 teachers participated in the retooling exercise to ensure compliance with the CBC,” she stated.
Macharia stated that, in keeping with this year’s World Teachers’ Day theme of enhancing teachers’ presence in classrooms, the Kenya Kwanza government just hired 56,000 new teachers.
She also stated that teachers should be applauded for successfully reviewing their 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement with the government.
She added that teachers should be honored because they would be taking national exams in 2023.
Exams will begin towards the end of October.
TSC, according to Macharia, is entirely devoted to guaranteeing teachers’ well-being as their primary obligation.
Thank you for recognising the work the teachers do.
